12 Point Guarantee for Increased Internet Security - Commitment by the members of VIR The members of the VIR are committed to:
1. Maximum Security The members of the VIR are obligated to make available optimal security measures when handling sensitive, private data: All transactions are protected by means of the high performing coding technologies SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security).
2. Virus Protections VIR members are obligated to actively provide and continuously update effective virus protection.
3. Continuous Booking Optimization VIR members are required to guarantee continuous optimization of efficient booking and payment procedures
4. User Protection The members of the VIR are committed to a close co-operation with institutions to the protection of the consumers.
5. Certification The members of the VIR are obligated to certify the safe transmission and completion of online bookings via a neutral institution.
6. Full ‘Money-Back-Guarantee' VIR members are required to ensure a full ‘money-back-guarantee' for non-receipt of travel documents, if the non-receipt is due to the fault of the respective member.
7. Qualified Booking Consultancy VIR members are obligated to provide qualified, personal consultancy before and during the booking.
8. Unfair Advertising Ban The members of the VIR are prohibited from running unfair advertising campaings in order to acquire customers.
9. Quality Assurance VIR members are required to guarantee quality assurance for all products and partners.
10. Availability/Commitment VIR members are obligated to only offer available products and to confirm booked products.
11. Qualified Spokesperson The members of the VIR are obligated to be available as qualified spokespersons, also after the holiday, for questions, suggestions and feedback.
12. Proof of Insolvency Insurance VIR members are obligated to correspond to the regulations of §651a ff German Civil Code , if acting as organizer. Thus is for example proof of insolvency insurance (§651 k German Civil Code for package holidays) required.
The VIR members all share a common basis: All partners have set in place suitable IT security concepts. This in particular with regard to the aspects of coding technology, any precautions against access and/or admission of unauthorized third parties as well as securing servers.
Of the utmost importance is to protect the privacy of customers and to prevent abuse, in particular to develop and maintain mutual standards and to secure the continuously high quality of offers.
